Situated on the lower level of the new Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs is a stunning new lounge. With bright colors, fun Spanish music playing and plenty of gorgeous seating, Barcelona Lounge quickly became one of our favorite spots at this new resort.
Barcelona Lounge at Gran Destino Tower
When you first walk into the Gran Destino Tower, you are greeted by an ornate, beautiful gold and white ceiling. This is the framework of the setting for Barcelona Lounge. The lounge is only one story, however its architecture transcends two stories, sharing the atmosphere with the resort lobby.
Who can dine at Barcelona Lounge?
Anyone can enjoy this beautiful lounge! It’s super convenient for anyone staying at Gran Destino, but reservations are not required and it’s open to everyone.
The Food at Barcelona Lounge
Barcelona Lounge serves two purposes. In the morning, they offer specialty Spanish coffees, as well as traditional coffee and grab and go breakfast items such as muffins, scones and cheese and fruit plates, perfect for those who are in the morning rush to get to the Parks; or in the case of many Coronado Springs guests, a meeting at the convention center. We highly recommend the Café Bombon, which is just a shot of espresso with sweetened condensed milk and if you’re familiar with Cortado, they serve that as well in two sizes.
In the afternoon, the lounge sort of transforms into a more laid back lounge, with full bar service. Still offering those delicious Spanish style coffees, a cocktail, wine and beer menu are also added. A few small bites are also offered during the day. Hummus and cheese boards are the main offerings for the afternoon, so don’t expect to find your typical bar food here . They do offer non-alcoholic beverages as well if you’re traveling with littles, or if you’re not much of a drinker but still want to enjoy what they have to offer.
The Atmosphere at Barcelona Lounge
Barcelona Lounge is a bright, colorful space and it has an atmosphere to match. In the mornings, the atmosphere is a bit more rushed, as one would expect. You can expect your coffee in to go cups and service to be quick. You’ll see many families on their way to the Parks. Don’t be surprised to see kids passing through.
In the afternoon, however, the service slows down and becomes a bit more personalized. While you can directly walk up to the bar and order, you also have the option of sitting at a table and allowing someone to serve you. We did this just for the experience. I’m big on chatting with Cast Members to get their recommendations and insight on menus; for me that is better done with one on one service rather than at the bar.
You’ll also see more groups of people getting together for a drink and less children in the afternoon and evening as more people tend to treat this more like a lounge later in the day and less like a pass through. Most families are at the Parks during the day as well, which likely contributes to the more “grown up” atmosphere.
Is Barcelona Lounge Kid-Friendly?
Regardless of the time of day, kids are always welcome. So if you’re hoping to check this place out with little ones in tow, never fear. My daughter got excellent treatment from our server, who recommended a fun lemonade for her to try and she loved it.
The lounge does share its second story with the main lobby; so at times it can become quite loud despite its efforts to maintain a really lovely, relaxing atmosphere during the day. At the same time, a lot of people will come down to the lounge, just to well, lounge, so even if you don’t want to order anything, the space is open to everyone. It’s also a great space to get some work done if needed!
The Cost of Barcelona Lounge
Barcelona Lounge is pretty on par with pricing for similar places at Walt Disney World. Expect to pay $10-$13 for most cocktails and $10 for our fancy hummus and bread, which could otherwise be considered pricey elsewhere. If you’ve been to Baseline or other bars on Disney property, the prices are pretty similar. So don’t expect to find great deals here. You really came for the atmosphere anyway.
Coronado Springs Barcelona Lounge Review
Overall, we are loving this new addition to Coronado Springs! Barcelona Lounge is a beautiful space to come relax, work, drink, enjoy a quick snack; or just take in all the sights, sounds and smells that the Gran Destino Tower has to offer. We highly recommend checking it out even if you’re not staying at the Tower as it really is a beauty in its design. We think it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind after a day of soaking up the magic of the Parks, a busy conference schedule or any time you want to escape the busy pace of life and slow down a bit.
