Epcot International Festival of the Arts: What’s New?

Epcot International Festival of the Arts: What’s New?

Every January Walt Disney World welcomes artists and artisans to the International Festival of the Arts at Epcot. For 2019 we’ll see new foods, new artists and a daily concert series. Since January weather in Florida is usually mild, if you’re looking for an easy breezy Disney vacation, this may be it! Here’s the lineup of everything you can expect at the 2019 Festival of the Arts at Disney Epcot.

The International Festival of Arts returns to Epcot at Walt Disney World in from Jan 18- Feb 25th, 2019. Thirty nine days of art, food, workshops and Broadway music.

International Festival of the Arts Elements

A smaller festival, you can fit The International Festival of the Arts into a one-day Epcot visit, but we’d recommend spreading it over 2 days to really experience all the things offered. There are 7 main components to the festival that should be included in your itinerary.
  • Artists and Galleries
  • 13 Food Studios; Open 11am- 9pm
  • The Broadway Concert Series
  • Complimentary Seminars & Workshops
  • The Figment Scavenger Hunt Game
  • Special Event Merchandise
  • Unique Photo Ops

See the Art

The International Festival of the Arts includes artists of all kinds! From fine art in the gallery spaces, to chalk drawings on the sidewalks, you are sure to see something that inspires you. This festival combines art from the culinary arts, the visual arts and the performing arts. Seeing a gold sculpture come to life, or dancers in the midway are part of the everyday experiences during this festival.

Try the Food

Get ready to feast your eyes on the most beautiful culinary creations. From painted pop tarts to crystal mooncakes these pieces of edible art take a little bit longer to create than your regular Disney snacks. The festival includes 13 Food Studios in the World Showcase. Some studios are specific to each country while others are found throughout Epcot. No matter what your tastes you’re sure to find something delicious and beautiful.

Listen to the Music

In addition to the performers that will be out and about in the World Showcase, you can also head over to the American Gardens Theater to see the Broadway Concert Series. New for 2019, this concert series is offered daily at 5:30 pm, 6:45 pm and 8 pm. Sing along to songs from Tarzan, Beauty and the Beast, Lion King and more. See the festival site for a full lineup of performers. For an extra special night out you can grab the Broadway Concert Series Dining package, ensuring you’ll have the best seats in the house.

Take a Class

If you’re ready to get creative, you can attend a complimentary seminar or sign up for a workshop. These extra special classes run daily from 11:30 am-12 pm and are worth a look. Reservations are available the day of at the Odyssey Festival Showplace. Check out the seminar lineup and schedule  to learn more.

Find Figment

Are you ready to find Figment? Our favorite mascot of imagination, Figment the dragon, is hidden in art works of all kinds around the World Showcase. Some are easy to find, and some are not. Figment’s Brush with the Masters scavenger hunt includes a game board, stickers and when you complete the game, a prize! We love all the Epcot festival scavenger hunts and always make sure to take time to play. It’s a great way to have some fun and get a budget-friendly souvenir.

Check out the Merchandise

Every year Disney reveals special themed merchandise, made specifically for the festival, with many items only available in the parks. We always spend some time browsing the shops and festival kiosks to see all the new items made specifically for the event. You can get themed gift cards, pins, apparel, accessories, and more.

Take an Artistic Photo

Are you ready to become part of an art piece? With fun photo ops that put you inside the art, the backdrops at the festival are sure to be hit for your next Instagram post or family photo. You can find these unique backdrops throughout the World Showcase during the festival.
We’re also super excited about the Community Mural! Be sure to stop by and take your place as Disney’s next artist!

Epcot Festival of the Arts Tips

For such a new festival we have not perfected this strategy yet! But this is what we know so far.

    • Visit on Weekdays. As with all Epcot Festivals they get crazy crowded on the weekends, so save yourself the stress and go during the week.
    • Set aside 2 days for this festival. While this festival is by no means as big as Food and Wine or Flower and Garden, there is a lot to do. And with pop up events and artists on sporadic schedules it’s best to stretch it across two days if you can spare them.
    • Grab a Times Guide and Entertainment Schedule. This will be your best bet for making sure you don’t miss anything.
    • With pricier foods at the Food Studios than the other festivals, if you have the Disney Dining Plan and snacks to use, use them where you can.
    • STOP! And watch the artists work. This is by far the coolest part of the festival. Be sure to see it all!
