Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya is Epcot’s newest restaurant. Located in the Japan Pavilion, this new dining location not only serves up shareable dishes and sushi, but a whole lot more. Read on for our Shiki-Sai:Sushi Izakaya Restaurant Review and to learn about what this new restaurant at Disney has to offer.
Japan Pavilion at EPCOT
The Japan Pavilion at Epcot always has fun and exciting things to offer. Though often overshadowed by Epcot’s international festivals, Japan has some of the best snacks at Disneyworld. And some of the best food and drinks in general. Not only that, but guests can also enjoy the drummers here as well. Which always makes for a fun stop while traveling around the world showcase.
Shiki Sai: Sushi Izakaya at EPCOT
Shiki Sai: Izakaya is the newest restaurant at Epcot. Located in the Japan Pavilion, where Tokyo dining used to be, this restaurant promises to deliver on amazing sushi. Which is something that Epcot was very much lacking. Yes, there is sushi available at the Disney Swan. But if you’re not familiar with the boardwalk area,or are just worried about being able to actually secure a table at Kimonos since they don’t accept reservations, something a bit easier has been needed for a while.
Atmosphere at Shiki Sai
The atmosphere at Shiki Sai is relaxing and calm. With lovely music playing the moment you enter the restaurant, this is really a great place to take a break from the chaos of the parks. Located at the top of the stairs, you can check in on the ground floor near the entrance of Mitsukoshi in Japan. And you’ll receive a text or notification from the My Disney Experience app when your table is ready.
You are also welcome to wait upstairs. Which is nice if you want to escape the Disney heat or rain.
Menu at Shiki-Sai
The menu at Shiki- Sai is not only gorgeous, with full color photos of almost every single item on the menu. But it’s also pretty extensive. Though branded as an amazing place to get sushi, it’s a lot more than that. Yes, there is sushi. And lots of it! But there are also noodle bowls, hot plates, unique drinks and desserts, which I will have to try next time.
There is really something for everyone at Shiki-Sai. And if you’re not sure what to order, just ask your server! Our server was very helpful when it came to recommending some of her favorite dishes.
What we ordered at Shiki- Sai
Shiki- Sai has such an extensive menu, it was difficult to decide! So we ordered a bunch of everything and shared. We started off with some drinks. I ordered the Sake Sangria which was pretty perfect if you’re a fan of sangria. My friends ordered the Gari Gari Sour Orange and the Sochi Squeeze. The drinks were strong, especially the Sochu Squeeze and we all agreed they were worth the price here.
For Sushi, we ordered the Tuna Nigiri, the Kabore Sushi, the Golden Philadelphia Roll the Dragon Roll. If you’re a sushi lover, they have tons to choose from, on various forms and sizes. And this should be your next go to when at Epcot.
For hot menu items, I tried the Kara-age chicken at the recommendation of our server and it was fantastic. We also shared the Waygu Gyoza, which was absoultely stunning and comes as a 3-piece dish, so you can easily share if you like. But the real show stopper for me was the tableside Ishiyaki- Sukiyaki Rice. This dish was so flavorful and is something I’d happily order again and again.
Shiki-Sai:Sushi Izakaya Restaurant Review
Shiki-Sai, in my humble opinion, was phenomenal. The service was top-notch and potentially some of the best I’ve received at Walt Disney World. The food was fresh and flavorful. And had so many options to choose from. The ambiance was calm and relaxing, though I did go there at lunchtime during a slower period of the year.
When Walt Disney World announced Shiki Sai coming to the Japan Pavilion in Epcot, guests were very excited! Personally, I think I may have been one of the few who really enjoyed when it was Tokyo Dining, so I had mixed feelings about it. That being said, I am now fully onboard with this new restaurant! It’s really that good. And they even have some of the fan favorites from Tokyo Dining. Which makes it even better.
The location of the restaurant can’t be beat either. The view from this area is spectacular, treating guests near the windows with a beautiful angle of World Showcase Lagoon. Which means it’s likely quite stunning during the fireworks show as well. So, if you happen to book a later mealtime, you might just get a great view of the show from your window.
If you’re a sushi or Japanese food lover, we highly recommend checking Shiki Sai out on your next trip to Disney! You can watch our full review of Shiki Sai on YouTube here.
