How to save money at Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa

Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa, is truly a breathtaking destination. But it can also be expensive. Located on the island of Oahu, just getting to Hawaii can put a dent in your budget. Read on for ways to save money at Disney's Aulani.

Book through a third party

Booking through a third party is a great way to save money on your room at Aulani. Most of the time, third party sites offer discounted rooms, and although they can be limited, if you are able to grab one, you can save hundreds. If you're using a site such as, that allows you to earn free nights, these can also be used at Disney's Aulani and save you even more.

Rent DVC points

Renting DVC points not only saves you money, but can also land you in a better room. Using a site such as DVC rentals, you can reserve a DVC villa with a full kitchen, which can also help you save on food. The catch, however, is that you'll need to reserve it far enough out to secure a booking.  You'll want to reserve at least 7 months out to take advantage of this.

Eat off Property

Food at Disney's Aulani can really add up, especially if you are staying for a long time, or traveling with a larger party. We recommend venturing across the street, where you'll find great food options at great prices. Our favorites are Vintage Island Coffee and Monkeypod; but there are plenty of other options available as well.

Skip the Excursions

Of course we think you should see more of Oahu than just Aulani. But you don't really need to book most of these experiences through Disney. Many of the activities on the island are much cheaper by booking directly. And Oahu is pretty safe and easy to get around, so unless Aulani is offering something you can only get through the resort, we suggest saving your money and skipping the excursions at the resort.
