If there’s one meal that we feel is better than all the rest, it’s brunch! And when we heard that Lamplight Lounge at Disney’s California Adventure Park added brunch to their menu, you know we had to try it. So we headed to Pixar Pier for our favorite meal to check it out. Complete with views of the Mickey Ferris wheel and the Incredicoaster, Lamplight Lounge was sure to be the perfect place for a morning lounge.
Lamplight Lounge at Disneyland Resort
If you’re looking for a great place to sit down and eat, to ease into your day, brunch is now being served at Lamplight Lounge on Saturdays and Sundays. And is served until 11:30. You can make reservations 60 days ahead of time on the Disneyland app or the Disneyland website. We were told that walk-ups may be available depending on how busy they are.
Lamplight Lounge Atmosphere
Lamplight Lounge has a fun, creative atmosphere and after the recent redesign and name change from the very popular Cove Bar displays elements of your favorite Pixar movies. We love the theming of this lounge as it brings to life a lot of the artistry from Pixar movies. If you’re all about the details like we are, this should definitely make the top of your list as somewhere to visit while in California Adventure.
We were seated outside on the patio, which has beautiful views and a fun, casual atmosphere.
Brunch at Lamplight Lounge Menu
The menu for brunch looked pretty ambitious, offering delicious options from decadent French toast to rich Steak and Avocado toast. For kiddos, they offer a budding artists menu that offers smaller portions and options for picky eaters, so if you’re traveling with little ones, they’ve got you covered. To see the full menu, you can click here. And if you’re looking to elevate your morning, they offer mimosa flights and other fun cocktails.
Brunch Cocktails and Drinks
I ordered the Cinnamon Toast Cocktail, which is Stoli Vanilla Vodka, Frangelico, Rumchata, and cereal-infused milk. I was pretty unsure about this when I saw it on the menu, but after talking to the server who said this was one of his favorites on the whole menu. So I tried it, and it was surprisingly quite good! If you’re a fan of the cereal milk trend that’s currently going on, this is really next-level cereal milk right here. And it’s served in a little glass milk bottle, and may just be the cutest cocktail I’ve ever seen.
Brunch Entrees
For the meal, we got the Lamplight Chilaquiles, which are essentially a little bit like breakfast nachos. Who knew you could have nachos for brunch?! Well, you can at Lamplight. With tortilla chips, cheddar jack cheese, two eggs, queso fresco, red onions, cilantro sour cream and sliced avocado with 3 chile red sauce and pepitas, this dish sounds like it has a lot going on and it does- but it absolutely works. The flavors are bold and a little spicy, which we love. And it’s big enough to share, so if you’ve got a smaller appetite, or are saving room for snacks later, this will fit the bill.
We also tried the New York Avocado Toast. By far the most expensive meal on the brunch menu, at $28, this one was a bit disappointing. Sourdough toast topped with mashed avocado, New York steak, one sunny side up egg, piquillo butter sauce served with an arugula salad and potatoes, this is what we were most excited about it, but sadly it just didn’t live up to our expectations. The toast was a bit difficult to cut and the whole thing was really hard to get a full bite of all of the flavors. The egg was a touch underdone, which some people may not notice. And if the idea of avocado toast sounds delicious to you, but you’d rather not have something as heavy as steak, you can order it without, which will significantly reduce the price to $16. The server had also recommended the French Toast, which we later spotted at another table and immediately regretted all of our ordering decisions from the morning. I had heard it was a bit sweet and the portion we saw was a good size, so this might be another one worth sharing.
Allergy-Friendly Menu
He also went on to explain they’ve done a pretty great job with catering to those with food sensitivities and allergies, so if you have special dietary needs, just let them know and you can speak with the chef regarding your specific restrictions. This is one thing we will always truly appreciate about traveling anywhere with Disney; their attention to dietary needs is really second to none.
Service at Lamplight Lounge
Service was absolutely top-notch while we were there. Since we were there on the first day of brunch service, I felt everyone was at the top of their game checking to see how things were and we were served fairly quickly. I always get very chatty with the servers about the menu because I like to hear their recommendations, and our server was absolutely wonderful about answering questions and making suggestions. There were also several managers free roaming the lounge asking for feedback on all of the dishes, which I always appreciate with a new menu.
Brunch at Lamplight Lounge Review
Overall, brunch at Lamplight Lounge was pretty impressive to us. While we didn’t love the Avocado toast, everything else from the service to the drink to the food was really spot on. And it was a nice relaxing way to get away from the crowds a bit.
