What you Need for a Shamrock Milkshake
From the basics like ice cream to cute glasses and sprinkles, this little Irish treat is easier than you think. At its easiest, it’s just some ice cream and green food coloring! At its most difficult, you can involve a blender.
Shamrock Milkshake Ingredients
- 3 large scoops of vanilla ice cream (about 1/4 c. each)
- 1/4 c. heavy cream
- 1/2 tsp. peppermint extract
- 6 drops green food coloring
- Whipped cream, for topping
- Maraschino cherry, for topping
How to Make a Disney St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Milkshake
In a blender, mix vanilla ice cream, heavy cream, peppermint extract, and food coloring until completely smooth, then pour into a glass. Top with whipped cream, green sprinkles, and a cherry before serving.
Notes from the Kitchen
We used oat milk ice cream to go dairy-free, but any vanilla ice cream will do! Peppermint Extract is essential if you’re replicating the authentic Shamrock Shake from McDonald’s, but… if you’re not a peppermint fan, just leave it out! The shake will still be a gorgeous green flavor and delicious! Maraschino Cherries are one of our toppings. Frankly, we usually eat them all before they get onto the dessert. But, if you’re looking for a little extra green in your milkshake, you can grab Green Maraschino Cherries usually in the liquor section of your grocery store.
