The Boardwalk Deli on the Disney World Board Walk

The Boardwalk Deli on the Disney World Board Walk

We head to the Disney Boardwalk at Walt Disney World, whenever the crowds get too bad, the heat gets too bad, or we just need to put our toes in the sand. As such, it’s no surprise that we spend a lot of time there. In fact, the Disney Boardwalk is one of our favorite places at Disney World. This year welcomed a refreshed restaurant to try, say hello to the newest restaurant at Walt Disney World; The Boardwalk Deli!

Boardwalk Deli Disney BoardWalk

There have been a lot of changes at Walt Disney World due to the 50th Anniversary and all the plans for new restaurants, rides, and shows. And as most things go, change begets more change. So, while we loved the Boardwalk Bakery, it did have its flaws. As such, the Boardwalk Deli is now taking over, and offering up a whole new menu! Complete with some old favorites and new flavors.

Disney's 50th Anniversary Refillable Mug

Can I Still Refill my Disney Refillable Mug at the Boardwalk Deli?

Yes. As guests of Disney’s Boardwalk Inn have always done, Disney refillable mugs can be refilled at the Boardwalk Deli. Taking over the space of the Boardwalk Bakery, you can find the refillable mug stations including soda, tea, and coffee right where they used to be. And as Boardwalk Inn doesn’t have a central commissary or quick service restaurant in-house, guests of the Boardwalk Inn can refill their refillable mugs at Boardwalk Deli instead.

BoardWalk Deli on Disney’s Boardwalk

Previously the Boardwalk Bakery, the BoardWalk Deli has taken over the space overlooking Disney’s Boardwalk. This quick service location offers refillable mug stations, outdoor seating, and mobile order. Primarily a small space with a counter indoors, there isn’t anywhere to sit inside here. That said, there is ample seating on the Disney BoardWalk at a variety of tables. Plus, easy mobile ordering means you can also time an order to simply take it back to your resort room. A nice option for when the weather is too hot, or rainy.

BoardWalk Deli Breakfast

So what foods can you expect to have at the BoardWalk Deli? Taking cues from the classic deli traditions of the Northeastern states- think New Jersey, and New York,- you can grab sliced meats, layered sandwiches, and even plant-based options here. In addition to specialty sandwiches, you can also grab bagels, pastries, and desserts.

Breakfast sandwiches include an Everything Bagel Sandwich featuring cage-free eggs, sausage, and cheddar cheese. A Bagel Breakfast Sandwich with cage-free eggs, bacon, sweet caramelized onions, and cheddar cheese. And also a Plant-Based Ciabatta sandwich with “egg” florentine, plant-based cheese, tomato jam, and arugula.

The first photo is a signature Italian Sub is built with layer upon layer of thinly sliced capicola, sopresseta, and pepperoni with provolone, arugula, tomato, arugula pesto, and mayonnaise on fresh-baked ciabatta bread. The second photo is the Warm Pastrami Reuben which is a classic deli staple, with generous rolls of thin-sliced warm pastrami topped with sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and Thousand Island dressing on marble rye bread.

BoardWalk Deli Lunch and Dinner

For lunch and dinner, Boardwalk Deli brings out a selection of hot and cold deli sandwiches. A variety of bread is available including marble rye, ciabatta, focaccia, and more. And a nice bonus is that all bread and bagels are prepared fresh in-house!

Lunch and Dinner Sandwiches include a traditional Italian Sub with capicola, soppressata, pepperoni, provolone, arugula, tomato, pesto, and mayonnaise, all on ciabatta bread. Or you can grab the Warm Pastrami Reuban made up of thinly sliced pastrami, sauerkraut, swiss cheese, and thousand island dressing on rye bread. And if you’re looking for something hearty and classic you can grab a Roasted Chicken Sandwich with cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomato with garlic aioli on ciabatta, or a Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup combo.

For a plant-based option, there is a Veggie Crunch Muffaletta sandwich, which includes cured and pickled root vegetables, olive tapenade, and plant-based cheese served on focaccia. We would not recommend the Muffaletta, as it’s not enough filling to balance the focaccia, and it’s literally pureed veggies. If you’re a vegetarian go for the grilled cheese or ask for a bagel sandwich without the meat. Both would have more protein than this sandwich, and would taste better too.

BoardWalk Deli Desserts

Thankfully, even though the name changed, you can still find loads of great desserts here. Grab a Cannoli, Blueberry Scone, New Jersey Crumbcake, or New York Style Half Moon Cookie to add to your meal. And if you’re looking for pastries, you can find Cream Puffs, Raspberry Danish, and more here. Of course, there are still cookies, cupcakes, and Cinnamon Yummies available here to grab on the go when you need a sweet treat.

Surely to be a welcome addition to the restaurants on the Disney Boardwalk. As a Budget-Friendly Disney Dining option, be sure to stop here on your next break from EPCOT Park, as it’s within walking distance of the Disney Boardwalk.

Disney Boardwalk Deli Restaurant Review

Another day, another quick service restaurant at Walt Disney World. From a Disney foodie standpoint, the Boardwalk Deli doesn’t include anything on the menu to write home about. BUT, the food is adequate and budget-friendly. If you’re wanting to add this to your Disney Day we recommend the Breakfast Sandwiches and the Crumb Cake. Both are wonderful, and a great way to get the day started.

Disney's Boardwalk welcomes a new restaruant to replace the Boardwalk Bakery. Boardwalk Deli has arrived with sandwiches, bagels and class sweets from the northeast Atlantic coast.
