ABC Commissary Restaurant at Disney Hollywood Studios Review

ABC Commissary Restaurant at Disney Hollywood Studios Review

Wondering if you should add ABC Commissary to your Hollywood Studios Day at Disney World? When it comes to Disney quick-serve restaurants, there is a gamut of options. From mediocre theme park food to unique flavorful meals, Hollywood Studios can provide them all. ABC Commissary can be found somewhere in between these two ends of the spectrum. The ABC Commisary menu includes sandwiches and fries, alongside Mediterranean salads, plant-based dishes, and seasonal treats. If you’re looking for a quick lunch or dinner under that $15 per person price point, with generous portions, then ABC Commissary may be just what you’re looking for.

In general Hollywood Studios doesn’t typically have food you can write home about. With the exception of the unique food flavors and combinations found in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge.  Everything else in this park tends to offer up basic American cuisine. With sub-par dining at PizzeRizzo’s, family-friendly dining at Backlot Express, and typical fast food at the other quick-serve dining locations at Hollywood Studios, let us take a minute to talk about how ABC Commissary is a little different.

ABC Commisary Restaurant

ABC Commissary Atmosphere

Unlike Rosie’s All-American Café, and Fairfax Fare over on Sunset Boulevard, which offers similar menus, ABC Commissary offers indoor dining and air conditioning! This is HUGE when it comes to hot and rainy Florida weather. Tucked away between the Chinese Theater and Grand Avenue on commissary Lane, ABC Commissary features a theme that incorporates the most popular of Disney’s ABC franchises. Adverts, billboard-sized posters, and familiar faces are all part of this television-focused experience. While theming here leaves something to be desired for the Disney fan, television junkies are sure to get their fill.

The inside of Hollywood Studios Quick Service Restaurant is basic. Walk-up counters, and a two-sided dining room, with condiment stations on each side help, keep the noise down. Both tables and booth seating are available, and windows cover one side of the restaurant for ample lighting. Indoor palm trees lend to a “Hollywood” vibe and break up the crowds of people. Know that during the busy season, there is sometimes a cast member attendant that helps direct you to open tables. As such, if  you’re not one for waiting to eat inside during the busy times, you can also head to outdoor tables, with umbrella coverings, that line the lane, just outside the restaurant.

ABC Commissary Menu

Serving classic American cuisine, this restaurant offers large portion sizes of just about everything. If you’re visiting Walt Disney World with children, looking to eat enough in one sitting to cover both lunch and dinner, or wanting to maximize every cent of your Disney Dining Budget, then ABC Commissary is a good choice for your next meal. Check out the ABC Commissary Menu for an updated look at everything offered here. Here are a few of the dishes we typically get when we eat at ABC Commissary.

Chicken Club Sandwich

A classic, and safe choice, this Chicken Club Sandwich is big enough to share. Served with a side of fries, this meal will hold you over for a while! This sandwich includes marinated Chicken, Bacon, Provolone, Avocado Ranch, Lettuce, and Tomato served on a Toasted Brioche Bun with your choice of Side. We like this for it’s freshness, and the elevated flavors courtesy of the bacon and brioche. While this club won’t have you raving about it, it will keep you full for a good long while.

Mediterranean Salad

This Mediterranean Salad at ABC Commissary comes with two options; hummus or chicken. We LOVE that this restaurant does offer just a basic vegetarian and vegan meal, that doesn’t involve some sort of a “veggie meat”. Because veggies, and grains would do the trick most of the time. This Mediterranean Salad also comes on a platter with a half-sized flatbread. Mind you, even the flatbreads are huge. Something to note, if you don’t want it too soggy, ask for the hummus in a cup on the side. Filled with bitter greens, kalamata olives, and feta cheese, this is a dinner-sized salad and filling, even without the chicken.

Lunch at ABC Commissary

Other entrees at ABC Commissary include Pork Carnitas Tacos, Buffalo Chicken Grilled Cheese, and Shrimp Tacos. For Vegans and Vegetarians, there is a plant based, California Burger and the kid’s meal includes things like Pork Tacos and Grilled Ham and Cheese. Since this menu does change rather frequently, we do always check the menu before we go, and again, mobile ordering is best, especially during the busiest of times. ABC Commissary does serve alcoholic drinks, like Margaritas, if you’re looking to add a little liquor to your lunch, or dinner.

ABC Commissary Seasonal Snacks

The ABC Commissary dessert menu typically includes a variety of seasonal and mainstay snacks, like the Strawberry Lemon Cheesecake. Offered throughout the year, ABC commissary is known for offering seasonal treats when they come available for special events and holidays. Usually offered for a limited time, these treats are typically between $4-8 dollars and include seasonal flavors.

Caramel Apple Tart

During the previous fall season, the Disney Halloween Snacks here were fantastic. This one we share here, was a Spiced Caramel Cheesecake Mousse Apple served atop a Cinnamon-Apple Tart. This decadent treat was actually quite lovely. filled with tiny apple pie filling apples, atop a flaky tart crust, this snack was a must-have for us. The apple part of this dessert consists of a cheesecake mousse that was slightly spiced and sweet, perfect for those who love cheesecake.

Chocolate Mousse

For chocolate lovers, the chocolate mousse was also very good. The raspberry here wasn’t too overpowering and the multilayered treat combined enough flavors and textures to make this more than just a mousse. This was a Raspberry-Dark Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate-Almond Cake, and a layer of Hazelnut Crunch and Whipped Chocolate-Hazelnut Cheesecake.

How Much does ABC Commissary Cost?

The prices at ABC Commissary in Hollywood Studios typically range from $10-$13 each, per entree, and includes a variety of sides. Beverages are an additional $5 each and desserts usually range between $5- $7 dollars each. As such, you may be closing to $25 per meal here. That said, you can easily skip dessert or bring your own water to keep at a more budget friendly $15 meal.

Is ABC Commissary Worth it?

Wondering if ABC Commissary is worth it? We’ll just say that the portion sizes here are HUGE. Which sort of justifies the cost, if it’s food you like. That said, almost all Disney quick service Hollywood Studios Restaurants offer entrees at around the $15 mark. Even the waffle bowls at Fairfax Fare, which doesn’t have indoor air-conditioned seating are the same cost. For us, on a day when we need a big lunch or dinner, and aren’t doing a table service meal, we do think ABC Commissary is worth it. But, then, we wouldn’t eat here on days when we have dining reservations at a sit down restaurant, simple because it is a ton food.
