While no one can make that decision for you, we are going to share all about the card and what to expect as a member. Here are the benefits you can expect from the Disney Visa Credit Card.
Disney Visa Credit Card
The Disney Visa credit card is often a popular one amongst Disney fans. But is it worth it? We’ll be sharing all about the Disney Visa Card today so you can decide for yourself. It’s worth noting that there are 2 types of Disney Visa Credit Cards available. The Disney Visa Card, which has no annual fee, and the Disney Premier Visa Card, which has a $49 annual fee. The benefits vary slightly between the two, so we will be sure to note when the benefit is tied specifically to an annual fee.

Benefits of the Disney Visa Credit Card
The Disney Visa Credit Card has lots of benefits. While you can earn cash back on pretty much all of your purchases, the amount you’ll earn will change depending on which card you get. For the standard Disney Visa Card, you’ll earn 1% cash back on all purchases. However, if you bump up to the Disney Premier Visa Card, you can earn a bit more: 5% cash back on purchases made directly through DisneyPlus.com, Hulu.com or ESPN.com, 2% cash back on purchases made at U.S. Disney locations, gas, grocery stores, and restaurants, and 1% cash back on all other purchases.
As you can see, the amount you’ll earn can vary a lot depending on which card you get. And this can be a determining factor in whether or not the card is worth it to you. 1% cashback is always better than no cashback, but compared to other cards, it’s pretty minuscule. 2% is a little more competitive overall. And if you spend a lot of streaming services, 5% can be a pretty great boost to your Disney dollars.
However, in addition to earning cashback on purchases, there are many other benefits to having the Disney Visa Credit Card, some of which outweigh the cashback earning potential.
Disney Dollars
One of the most exciting benefits of a Disney Visa Card is earning Disney Dollars. As mentioned before, how much you’ll earn will depend on what type of Disney Visa card you have. This is basically how the Disney Visa gives you cash back. But this form of cash back can be redeemed on pretty much anything you’d normally pay Disney for. Use it for food, a deposit on a Disney cruise, or even save it up to pay for a full Disney vacation! How you spend it is up to you.
Disney Visa dollars expire 5 years after they are posted to your account. So if you’re planning on saving up for something big, you’ve got time! Or of course, you can use your Disney dollars for smaller purchases at shopDisney or inside the Parks.
And if you have the Disney Premier Visa Credit Card, you can also redeem your cashback for air travel booked with your card. Just book your airfare and you can have a statement credit applied towards it.
Special offers at Walt Disney World
Of all of the benefits of the Disney Visa Credit Card, special offers at Walt Disney World might be the one that saves you the most money. Just by being a Disney Visa Credit Cardholder, you can score some of the best deals on Walt Disney World property. These discounts are usually some of the highest discounts offered at Walt Disney World. And are even often higher than what Annual Passholders or Florida Residents have access to.
The only requirement to be eligible for Disney Visa Cardholder discounts at Walt Disney World is that, well you have the Disney Visa. And that you make at least one payment with that card. You don’t even have to pay for the entire trip with your Disney Visa Credit card, which is a really nice benefit of being able to get the discount at such a great rate. Be on the lookout for discounts with your Disney Visa, they can save you a lot of money on your Walt Disney World Vacation.
10% off merchandise on Disney Cruise Line
Disney Cruise Line can be expensive. And while there aren’t a lot of discounts that are always available, especially during the high season, one discount you can always count on is being able to get 10% off merchandise purchases of $50 or more with your Disney Visa Credit Card for purchases made onboard. If you love merch, that’s a great perk! It’s one of the easiest ways to save money on a Disney Cruise. You can also save 10% on the Castaway Cay Getaway Package, which includes a bicycle rental, snorkel rental and inner tube rental while on the island.
0% financing on Disney Vacations
Disney Visa Cardholders are eligible for 0% financing on purchases of Disney Vacations for a certain amount of time. Generally, 0% for 6 months is the standard, and this is great because not only can you earn Disney Dollars on these vacations, but you can also avoid paying any interest on them as long as you pay them off in the interest free period. The interest free period can change from time to time, which is great so you don’t have to worry about racking up interest on these purchases.
Dedicated Character Meet and Greets and Photo Opportunities
Disney Visa Cardholders get access to special meet and greets at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. And sometimes even onboard Disney Cruises! The thing that’s really nice about these is that the lines are generally non-existent. The caveat is that you don’t always know who will be meeting, just where. Which is a fun surprise! Usually, you can expect to meet some, and sometimes all, of the fab five, and often they’re in special outfits! These meet and greets are also usually in a great spot in the Parks, like somewhere with air conditioning.
Special offers beyond the Disney Parks
Other Disney Destinations like Aulani also offer discounted rates for Disney Visa Cardholders at selected times throughout the year. These aren’t always available, but when they are, they’re usually pretty good. Outside of that, cardholders can often save at AMC theaters when seeing a Disney Movie, Adventures By Disney vacations and more. Special offers vary throughout the year, but when they’re available, you can usually save a good amount of money!

So, if you’re looking to buy into the Disney Vacation Club, keep your eyes peeled for these offers as they’re usually available once or twice a year.
3 Months of free Disney Streaming Services per year
If you love streaming, the Disney Premier Visa Card may be a great choice! With the Disney Premier Visa, you can get up to $13.99 back per month for three months when you use your Disney Visa to purchase the Disney Trio Bundle.
Is the Disney Visa Credit Card Worth it?
As with all things, “worth it” is subjective. This may not be the highest earning card you’ll own, but if you tend to spend a lot on Disney vacations and Disney merchandise, it could be worth considering adding to your wallet. This won’t be the best travel hacking credit card in your lineup, but the best benefits you’ll likely use are not the ones that will result in your cashback earnings anyway. You’ll likely save the most money on offers that become available to you as a result of owning the card. So if Disney Vacations are something you take annually or more frequently, then a Disney Visa Credit Card could be a worthwhile addition.
That being said, if you’re just looking for a high earning credit card that can earn you perks on other types of travel, there are better cards out there. We are big fans of the Capital One Venture Card, and often the Chase Sapphire Card gets great reviews as well. The benefits will really depend on how you spend money on Disney products and vacations, so figuring that out will be the easiest way to see if this card is right for you.
