Quotes from Home Alone
By far one of our favorite Christmas movies of all time, you just can’t beat the mayhem and mishaps that happen when Kevin is left home alone at Christmas. Filled with important messages of the season, this John Hughes masterpiece combines humor and heart into a Christmas movie we can all relate to. Check out our Home Alone Movie Night post for a battleplan to protect your home, Home Alone Movie Bingo, and Recipes to whip up when you watch it next!
“If Uncle Frank Says No, it must be really bad.” – Kate
We love this Home Alone Christmas Quote. Mainly, because there is probably an Uncle Frank in every family and we’re grateful to all of them! In this scene uncle Frank is protecting Kevin from the classic film noir, Angels with Filthy Souls. Not a real film, we love that this one is inspired by some of James Cagney’s best gangster movies.
“Did I burn down the joint? I don’t think so” – Kevin
Home Alone is filled with memorable quotes. We like this one as a reminder that as long as nothing has caught fire, you’re doing a-okay! “Did I burn down the joint? I don’t think so. I was making ornaments out of fishhooks.” Kevin (Home Alone).
“When I grow up and get married, I’m living alone” – Kevin
Filled with ironic humor, this is quote we find ourselves saying a lot. Especially during the holidays! When families all stuff themselves into one house and add more merry everything. “This house is so full of people it makes me sick. When I grow up and get married, I’m living alone.” (Home Alone)
“This is Christmas. The season of perpetual hope.” – Kate
“This is Christmas. The season of perpetual hope. I don’t care if I have to get out on your runway and hitchhike, if it costs me everything I own, if I have to sell my soul to the devil himself. I am going to get home to my son.” – Kate (Home Alone). While you may not have lost your child, chances are you find yourselves up against similar odds. That sold out toy your child wants, the cross country travel needed to get to your moms house, yet another failed Christmas recipe, and all sorts of things that seem like life or death pop up during the holidays. We feel you Kate.
“You can be a little old for a lot of things. You’re never too old to be afraid.” – Old Man Marley
Some of the best Christmas Quotes from Home Alone are from Old Man Marley. And this is as true at Christmas as it is during any other time of year. Of course, this quote leads to Kevin’s brilliant answer in our next quote. “You can be a little old for a lot of things. You’re never too old to be afraid.” – Old Man Marley
“All this time I’ve been worried about it, but if you turn on the lights, it’s no big deal.” – Kevin
Taking “lights” as a metaphor, we can see that turning on the lights in any area of our life makes them less scary to deal with. Whether it’s about dealing with confrontation, a family feud, finances, or the scary furnace in the basement. Shine the light on it, at least you’ll be able to see it clearly and choose a path forward.
- Old Man Marley: You can be a little old for a lot of things. You’re never too old to be afraid.
- Kevin: That’s true. I’ve always been afraid of our basement. It’s dark, there’s weird stuff down there, and it smells funny; that sort of thing. It’s bothered me for years.
- Old Man Marley: Basements are like that.
- Kevin: I made myself go down to do some laundry, and I found out it’s not so bad. All this time I’ve been worried about it, but if you turn on the lights, it’s no big deal. ( Home Alone)
“Will you please tell Santa that instead of presents this year, I just want my family back.” – Kevin
“Will you please tell Santa that instead of presents this year, I just want my family back.” – Kevin McCallister (Home Alone). The holidays are a tough time for many families. Heck, probably all families. Alcohol consumption goes up, credit card debt goes up, and drama goes up. Someone fighting about the mashed potato recipe, or spending too much on gifts is inevitable. That said, this Home Alone Christmas Quote reminds us, that without them, we have nothing. Practice some appreciation and gratitude for your fam this year, and every year. They are part of you, a mirror of you…they are why you are here.

Quotes from The Santa Clause
Another Christmas film we have on repeat in our house is The Santa Clause. We love all three of the films in this series and they all have important holiday lessons, alongside a heavy dose of humor. We’ve even rounded up our favorite recipes from the film and a snowglobe craft you can make in our Santa Clause Movie Night post. Here are our favorite lessons from the Santa Clause.
“Seeing isn’t believing. Believing is seeing.” – The Santa Clause
How true is this quote! When you start wondering how you can believe in something you haven’t seen yet, take a minute and realize everything you have in this moment didn’t exist until you imagined it. That job you have? You dreamed of having it and applied. That relationship you’re in… you imagined it long before it showed up. The house you’re living in… you dreamed about that too. You don’t need proof that you’re the creator of your reality. “Seeing isn’t believing. Believing is seeing.” (The Santa Clause).
“Just because you can’t see something, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist” – The Santa Clause
Another belief Christmas Quote, this one shows up in many different versions across movies. But we love how Charlie really shows Neil, that his way of thinking is flawed.
Charlie: “Have you ever seen a million dollars?”
Neil: No
Charlie: “Just because you can’t see something, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.” (The Santa Clause)
“You see, children hold the spirit of Christmas within their hearts.” – The Santa Clause
Everyone’s favorite elf, Bernard, always speaks the truth. When asked what would happen if Scott Calvin didn’t become Santa, he’s faced with this quote. “Then there would be millions of disappointed children around the world. You see, children hold the spirit of Christmas within their hearts. You don’t wanna be responsible for killing the spirit of Christmas, now would you… Santa? – Bernard (The Santa Clause)
“What do I get? A few runny noses and some dead citrus.” – Jack Frost
We love Martin Short. And his delivery of a jealous and malicious Jack Frost in the Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause is priceless. “You get the soda cans and you get the TV specials and you get the postage stamps and the billboards and the beautiful adoring wife and the army of toy-building yes men. What do I get? A few runny noses and some dead citrus.”- Jack Frost. Santa Clause 3.

Quotes from Miracle on 34th Street
A holiday tradition for us, Miracle on 34th Street (1947) encompasses everything the holiday is about. Real life always gets in the way of the “lovely intangibles” that actually make life worth living and this classic film reminds us of that. Like Susan says, “you have to keep on believing.” The 1994 version has all the vibes of the 90’s, complete with Kenny G in the background, oversized business wear, and a lot of practicality. Both are worth a watch and we see these everywhere.
“What happens to you matters to a lot of people. People like me who believe in what you stand for, and people like Susie who are just beginning to” -Fred Gailey
This is a great quote to remember, even when you’re not Santa. Who in your life believes in you, trusts you. This scene happens when Kris has given up and allowed himself to be committed to Bellevue. Showing up for yourself is as important and showing up for others. Doris, Susan, Fed and Santa all learn this lesson in the movie. “What happens to you matters to a lot of people. People like me who believe in what you stand for, and people like Susie who are just beginning to” -Fred Gailey
“Faith is believing in things when common sense tells you not to” – Fred Gailey
This Christmas Quote is one I find myself saying on repeat anytime things get muddy. “Faith is believing in things when common sense tells you not to.” Another great quote within this same scene is as Doris and Fred continue fighting. “Sometimes you’re going to find out that your way of facing the world just doesn’t work, and when you do don’t overlook those lovely intangibles, you’ll find they’re the only things that are worthwhile.” Just because things sometimes don’t work out, doesn’t mean you stop believing in them. So true.
“If you can’t accept anything on faith, then you’re doomed for a life dominated by doubt.” – Kris Kringle
By far one of the strongest and most emotional moments in the 1994 version of Miracle on 34th Street is when Santa Claus in jail, and the world is watching. Then Dorey Walker walks into the office at Macy’s and asks them if they believe. His speech here hits home, because it’s so weighted with truth. “I’m not just a whimsical figure who wears a charming suit and affects a jolly demeanor. You know, I… I… I’m a symbol. I’m a symbol of the human ability to be able to suppress the selfish and hateful tendencies that rule the major part of our lives. If… you can’t believe, if you can’t accept anything on faith, then you’re doomed for a life dominated by doubt.” (Miracle on 34th Street 1994)
Quotes from Nightmare Before Christmas
Another holiday film, we start watching during the Halloween Season, is The Nightmare Before Christmas. And yes, we created a Nightmare Before Christmas Movie Night to go with it! Filled with so many profound life lessons, the more you watch this film, the more you feel how true it is. When you’re not happy in an area of life, you try another. And when you’re inspired you can take action. When you don’t know what’s wrong, you try fill the gaping hole with something. Jack Skellington struggles with all of this in the film, and it couldn’t be more perfect.
“Just because I cannot see it, doesn’t mean I can’t believe it.” – Nightmare Before Christmas
As Jack Skellington tries to change his identity to something different than the Pumpkin King, he steps into Christmas Land and sees it clearly. While he doesn’t know his place in it, he believes it enough to create it, and gets the whole town behind him in creating something new. “Just because I cannot see it, doesn’t mean I can’t believe it.” – Jack Skellington (The Nightmare Before Christmas)
“That’s not my Christmas! My Christmas is filled with laughter, and joy…and this: my Sandy Claws outfit. I want you to make it.” – Jack Skellington
Such a departure from Halloweentown, and everything that it includes, Jack struggles to get others to see his vision of Christmas. “That’s not my Christmas! My Christmas is filled with laughter, and joy…and this: my Sandy Claws outfit. I want you to make it.” – Jack Skellington
“There’s frost on every window. Oh, I can’t believe my eyes! And in my bones, I feel the warmth that’s coming from the inside!”
Christmas feels like hope. And in NBC, Jack can feel it the second he steps into Christmasland. “There’s frost on every window. Oh, I can’t believe my eyes! And in my bones, I feel the warmth that’s coming from the inside!” – Jack Skellington (The Nightmare Before Christmas)

Quotes from Mickey’s Christmas Carol
Mickey’s Christmas Carol is filled with quotes and lessons, courtesy of Charles Dickens of course. Superbly executed in animation, none other than Scrooge McDuck himself plays Scrooge. What we love most is that many of these lines are taken straight from the book. And then of course, it’s one of the best renditions of this story for children.
“But sir, Christmas is a time for giving… a time to be with one’s family.” – Bob Cratchit
So true, Christmas is a time for family and for giving. Of course it takes Scrooge a while to learn this lesson. “But sir, Christmas is a time for giving… a time to be with one’s family.” – Bob Cratchit (Mickey’s Christmas Carol)
“It’s Christmas Morning! I haven’t missed it! The spirits have given me another chance!” – Scrooge
the whole point of the Christmas Carol is redemption. The ability to change your actions and change your fate. “It’s Christmas Morning! I haven’t missed it! The spirits have given me another chance!” – Scrooge (Mickey’s Christmas Carol)
Quotes from Pluto’s Christmas Tree
This seven minute Disney cartoon features Mickey decorating his Christmas Tree with Pluto, when Chip and Dale add to the fun with some decorations of their own!
“After all, it is Christmas.” – Mickey Mouse
What a wonderful time of year when we can forgive pretty much anything. “Pluto, we’ve got chipmunks in our tree! Cute little fellas. After all, it is Christmas.” – Mickey Mouse (Pluto’s Christmas Tree)
Quotes from Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Christmas
If you haven’t seen this Beauty and Beast Christmas movie, you’re missing out. Featuring an all star voice cast, this one includes great songs, and lessons.
“I truly believe that hope is the greatest of the gifts we receive.”
There’s no other time of year that allows us so much hope as Christmastime. Why is it mainly this time of year that we allow ourselves to believe a little bit more. “As long as there’s Christmas, I truly believe that hope is the greatest of the gifts we receive.” – Angelique (Beauty and the Beast Enchanted Christmas)
Quotes from Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too
In Winnie the Pooh a Very Merry Pooh Year, there are a series of cartoons that include Pooh getting ready for the holidays, and all sorts of festive fun.
“You’re supposed to be asleep when Sandy Claws comes, you know.”
A cute Christmas Quote from Winnie the Pooh shows the main concern of the season. “You’re supposed to be asleep when Sandy Claws comes, you know.” – Winnie The Pooh (Winnie The Pooh and Christmas Too)
Quotes from Muppets Christmas Carol
This iconic Jim Henson film, was the first feature film after the great puppeteers death and featured not only an entire cast of Muppets but also Sir Michael Caine. Absolutely essential, this one should be on your watchlist every year. Get ready to memorize all the songs, and become enamored with this story. Check out our Muppets Christmas Carol Movie Night for some Traditional English Christmas ideas.
“Wherever you find love, it feels like Christmas” – Muppets
This line from one of the Muppets songs, makes the perfect Christmas Quote. “Wherever you find love, it feels like Christmas” Muppets ( The Muppet Christmas Carol).
“Yes, and every night will end and every day will start with a grateful prayer and a thankful heart” – Muppets
So close to our heart is this quote, that we even have a Muppets Christmas Carol Shirt with it. “Yes, and every night will end and every day will start with a grateful prayer and a thankful heart”- ( The Muppets Christmas Carol)
I’ll live my life in the past, the present, and the future. I will not shut out the lessons the spirits have taught me! – Scrooge
An exact quote from the book, this lesson hits close to home for Scrooge. A reminder to be human, given by the three spirits is filled with lessons worth remembering. Any version of Christmas Carol includes this quote. “I, I will honor Christmas, and try to keep it all the year! I’ll live my life in the past, the present, and the future. I will not shut out the lessons the spirits have taught me! Tell me that I may sponge out the writing on this stone!” – Ebenezer Scrooge (The Muppet Christmas Carol)
Quotes from Olaf’s Frozen Adventure
In Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, Olaf searches for what his Christmas traditions are, by learning about everyone else’s.
“When we’re together, then my favorite gift is you.” – Olaf’s Frozen Adventure
As Olaf figures out that Christmas is about love and family, he realizes that it’s the people that make the tradition, not the stuff. So cute! “When we’re together, then my favorite gift is you.” – Elsa (Olaf’s Frozen Adventure)
“So you chop down a tree and dress its corpse with candles? I… love it!”
A funny quote from Olaf, we love this one as a dose of reality. Why do we do this? While Christmas trees have a deep history, seeing it through the eyes of our lovable snowman is comical. “So you chop down a tree and dress its corpse with candles? I… love it!” – Olaf (Olaf’s Frozen Adventure)
Quotes from The Nutcracker and the Four Realms
While the traditional story of The Nutcracker is taken from Alexandre Dumas version, inspired by ETA Hoffman, the Nutcracker and the Four Realms, tells an almost completely different story. While the Nutcracker is “alive” in another realm, themes of family, grief, belonging and reality all come into play into this film.
“It’s Christmas Eve, a time of mystery, and expectations. Who knows what might happen.” – Nutcracker and the Four Realms
Morgan Freeman’s Drosselmeyer is the creator of dreams and sets the stage with a bit of darkness. “It’s Christmas Eve, a time of mystery, and expectations. Who knows what might happen.” – Drosselmeyer (The Nutcracker and the Four Realms)
Quotes from Noelle
As a Disney+ Christmas Movie, Noelle features all things fun when Noelle goes to rescue her brother from Arizona, so that he can take up the reigns as Santa Claus. A position made vacant by her father’s death. A must see, this one has elements of Elf, that are whimsical and joyful.
“Santa’s real, he’s under a lot of pressure but he’s very real.”- Noelle
“Santa’s real, he’s under a lot of pressure but he’s very real.” – Noelle
“Oh My Garland”- Noelle
Just in case you need a kid-safe expletive for the holiday season, “Oh My Garland” from Noelle, is a good one.
“You can’t be Santa if you’re having a nervous breakdown” – Noelle
How true is this! And whether you’re playing Santa or not, it’s hard to be anything when you’re having a nervous breakdown. We love this film as a reminder that it’s okay to take a break. “You can’t be Santa if you’re having a nervous breakdown”
