It’s that time of year! The weather is getting chillier, the leaves are changing, Halloween decorations can be seen just about everywhere. What better way to get cozy than with a nice cup of hot cocoa? Grab your favorite Disney mug and put together a spooky cute hot cocoa board for the season!
Disney Halloween at Home
Disney has been celebrating Halloween since early August. But if you weren’t able to make it to Walt Disney World for Halloween, there are plenty of ways to have a Disney Halloween at home! And we love the addition of this hot cocoa board as a way to have a cozy night in, with your favorite Disney Halloween movie. Or as a fun way to kick off a night of trick or treating!
Disney Halloween Hot Cocoa Board
Although this board isn’t technically all out Disney, we do love the idea of adding in hidden Mickeys here or there. If you happen to be at the Parks, Disney even sells branded hot cocoas that would be a nice touch too! A hot cocoa board is so easy to assemble, and the sky is the limit when it comes to what you can add. We decided to keep this one simple. And chose mostly things anyone could find at a local grocery store to keep it simple. If you have the time to make it extra fancy, definitely feel free to!
We also found hot cocoa in a cauldron at Williams Sonoma, which we loved as the centerpiece of this board. But we love this hot cocoa recipe, and it’s dairy free, so it’s easy to adapt to those who can’t tolerate dairy. Plus, it’s inexpensive! You could easily create this cocoa recipe and add it to a little cauldron instead of purchasing one from somewhere. Additionally, we also added hot cocoa bombs from Trader Joe’s. This is another thing you can make yourself,or find at another store. Target and some other grocery stores had similar ones this year.
And of course, lastly we added a few dippable treats and toppings. Things like whipped cream, Halloween sprinkles and candy corns make for fun toppings. And sturdier cookies like Oreos and pirouettes are an easy snack to add and even dress up for a Halloween hot cocoa board. Our Mummy Pumpkin Madeleines were one of our favorites. And these were super easy because we actually bought the madeleines at the store and then just dipped them in some hot chocolate and added candy eyes.
What do you need for a Halloween hot cocoa board?
To create a Halloween hot cocoa board, there are a few supplies that will likely make your life a little bit easier. First you’ll need a board! This can be any board that works for you, or even a tray. Our tray is from Target and we love how huge it is. It can hold a lot! But we also have a large family, so not everyone will need or maybe even want something this big. Amazon, Target and even craft stores are all great places to look.
We also used these mini cauldrons for smaller things like sprinkles and candy corns. They’re from Amazon and not a bad deal! Especially since they can be used for St. Patrick’s Day as little pots of gold as well.
Marshmallows, of course, are a must for hot cocoa! We love making our own marshmallows, but to save time we decided to use festive Peeps instead. They have Halloween shapes out for the holiday in ghosts, pumpkins and Frankenstein faces, so you can see which works best for your board if you take that route!
Setting Up a Halloween Hot cocoa bar
If you want to take this a step further, set up a bar for your cocoa board! Things like paper cups, spoons, syrups, and even actual chocolates to make a richer cocoa really step up the cocoa board to make it easy for everyone to be able to enjoy it. If you or your guests drink, you can even add some Kahlua or Frangelico to the bar to add an extra kick!
