Halloween at Walt Disney World
Halloween at Walt Disney World is truly magical. The decorations, the snacks… even the weather starts to cool down. Just a little. The International Food and Wine Festival happens in the fall at EPCOT, so there’s plenty to see and do.
Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
Have you heard? Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is back! We loved Boo Bash last year, but we are so excited that our favorite Disney party is back. We are so ready for the Boo To You Parade and a little Disney Halloween magic! The first Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party this year is August 12, 2022.
Disney Halloween Costumes
Every year we venture to Walt Disney World for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and every year we struggle with what to dress as! Everyone has couple costumes down. Heck, even planning a Disney Halloween costume for a family of four is pretty easy. Check Pinterest if you don’t believe me. Disney trios are a little more difficult to dream up. And since my sister, my daughter, and myself are usually all traveling together, finding Disney costumes for a trio is a must. But never fear, we’ve got you covered with some of our favorite Disney Halloween costumes for a party of three.
Tips for costumes at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party
Not going to lie, a huge reason we have such a hard time deciding on a costume is that it is just SO HOT in Florida in the fall. And then it’s usually pretty freezing in Ohio come Halloween, so we have to have a completely separate costume for Walt Disney World than we would ever wear at home. Did I say the weather cooled down a bit? Yea, I did. But it’s still pretty warm for a Halloween costume. You can still expect temperatures in the high 80s in October.
Keeping that in mind, we are usually looking for something inexpensive, light, and easy to pack. Since the Halloween Party is literally just one night during our Fall Disney trip, we can’t be taking up too much space for just one outfit. To keep things simple, we usually look for staple pieces like a light t-shirt dress or romper and add accessories along the way. You can either turn your costume into a bound or a full-blown costume, but either way, starting simple is usually the easiest way for us.
You’ll also want to be sure to follow Disney’s guidelines for costumes so you’re not breaking any rules. You can find the guidelines here.
It can be tempting to buy a full Halloween costume and go all out! But if you’re traveling from out of state, keep in mind that you not only need room in your luggage for your costumes, but also need to be able to stand the Florida heat for seven or more hours if you plan to take advantage of the entire party time.
Disney Halloween Costumes for Three
Ok, so you’re traveling with a party of three and need a good Halloween costume idea? We’ve got plenty! So without further ado, here are some of our favorite ideas for Disney trios!
Huey, Dewey and Louie
Who doesn’t love these little guys?! This is such an easy costume too! Just grab t-shirts or t-shirt dresses and hats in blue, green and red. And wear yellow shorts, leggings or tights for the bottoms and voila! Instant costume.
Mike, Sulley and Boo
Monsters Inc. fans, we have an easy costume for you! Another one that can easily be DIY’d with t-shirts or t-shirt dresses. Add spots for Sully and an eye for Mike. A quick google search can show you lots of fun ideas for this one that also works with the Florida heat.
The Sanderson Sisters
Ahh the Sanderson sisters. A classic! We’ve seen our fair share of amazing Sanderson Sisters costumes over the years. And this is one you can really go all out with! It’s super easy to find a full costume for these bewitching ladies; of if you’re a bit craftier, you can turn this more into a Disneybound rather than a costume.
Wendy, Tink and Peter Pan
We are big Peter Pan fans here, so we are big fans of this idea! And who wouldn’t love to be in the comfort of a nightgown as Wendy Darling?! This costume idea is also great because it’s easy to find cooler options for these pieces.
Jaq, Gus and Cinderella
What’s cuter than Cinderella and her little mice friends?! Another super easy idea, and super cute if you’re traveling with little ones!
Haunted Mansion characters
Luckily, you can do this theme with just about any number of people. We did the Haunted Mansion theme one year for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and got so many compliments! We chose to dress as the tightrope walker, a Haunted Mansion maid and for the third costume, a subtle Haunted Mansion Disneybound. But you could easily add in a grave digger, Madame Leota, or any of the characters from the stretching room scene. There’s a lot of possibilities with this one, so feel free to get creative.
Anastasia, Drizella and Lady Tremaine
These three are hilarious if you meet them at Walt Disney World. So why not have a little fun of your own and dress as them?! You can go all out with this costume and find fancy dresses, or do something simple that you can DIY.
Flora, Fauna and Merryweather
We’ve done this costume before and it was such a fun one! You can read all about our Flora, Fauna and Merryweather costumes here. These dresses were a huge hit and are easy to use for other simple costumes in the future.
Lock, Shock and Barrel
Nightmare Before Christmas fans, why not dress as your favorite trouble makers?! I mean…trick or treaters. These three are easy to include in your Halloween costume plans because they’re already dressed up for halloween. So finding something that
Jack, Sally and Zero
Another Nightmare Before Christmas idea. This one takes a little more thought, and I always thought people dressed in Jack Skellington costumes looked a little warm, but we love the idea!
Hades, Pain and Panic
A quick google search will show you just how easy and fun this costume idea can be! And who doesn’t love Hades’ blue hair and sassy attitude?
Jasmine, Aladdin and Abu
We love this one for a family with a little one in tow; but it can work for any group of three!
Ariel, Sebastian and Flounder
There are a lot of trios you could dress up as from The Little Mermaid! Ariel, Eric and Max, Ursula and her eels friends, Flotsam and Jetsam, Ariel and any of her sisters… there are a lot of possibilities with this one. Use your creativity and you’re sure to come up with something fantastic!
Harris, Hubert and Hamish
Love to match? This Brave costume idea is perfect for you then. This one is especially easy if you grab a red curly wig for all three in your party. And if you happen to have a fourth member, adding in Merida just requires a long curly wig and blue dress!
Anna, Elsa and Olaf
Anna. Elsa and Olaf are not the only group of three you could dress up as from Frozen. Kristoff, Anna, and Sven are another great trio from that movie.
Rapunzel, Flynn and Pascal
Another one we love if you have a small Disney fan traveling with you. And even if you don’t, who doesn’t love these three?!
Russell, Dug and Carl
Love UP? This one is a cute idea, and we love that you can add more characters if your group is larger. Kevin, Ellie and even the UP house are all fun additions to this trio.
Moon Knight, Mr. Knight and Layla as the Scarlet Scarab
If you’ve been watching Disney Plus, then you’ll likely notice quote a few new Marvel series. Moon Knight has been one of our favorites! If the weather allows, we think you could easily go as Moon Knight, Mr. Knight and Layla. Mr. Knight would require some sort of blazer, while Moon Knight can be portrayed with that multi-layer bandaged look. And Layla has her own unique style. If you need pictures for inspiration, this costume is expensive but is a good way to get ideas.
Whether you’re a family of three, or a small group traveling together, we hope this guide has given you some ideas for next Halloween costume.
