5 Must Dos on a Disney Halloween Cruise on the High Seas

5 Must Dos on a Disney Halloween Cruise on the High Seas

Setting sail on the spookiest cruise around? If you’re embarking on a Halloween on the High Seas Cruise with Disney Cruise Line, you’ll want to make sure you’re ready for all the Halloween fun. With Disney characters in Halloween costumes, themed menus, Halloween crafts and activities, the Mousequerade and spooky treats, how will ever do it all! Never fear, we’re here to show you the Best things to do a on Disney Halloween Cruise. Here’s a few of our must-do’s for a Disney Halloween on the High Seas Cruise!

Disney Wish Cruise Ship Grand Hall

Watch the Pumpkin Tree Lighting

Every Disney Ship has a Pumpkin Tree. If you’re sailing the Disney Wish for Halloween then you’ll get to hear the story of Boo the Pumpkin Tree as part of the ceremony. On a Disney Halloween on the High Seas Cruise, the Pumpkin Tree lighting takes place on the first night of your cruise. The caretaker comes down to tell a few spooky stories and lights the pumpkin tree for the remainder of the cruise! Personally, we think this is a must-do if you’re into spooky stories.

As part of the event, you can hear not so scary stories of Halloween and take in the sights and sounds of the season. The lighting is pretty short, and takes place in the atrium near the Pumpkin tree. With plenty of space to gather around, you can also head to the balconies for a better view. The Pumpkin Tree is only lit on the first day, so if you miss it, you won’t have the chance to watch it again. We think it’s the perfect way to get into the spooky mood as your Disney Cruise sets sail.

Meet Disney Characters in Halloween Costumes

One of our favorite things about Disney Cruises is how easy it is to meet Disney characters! The lines are usually short, they are offered multiple times throughout the day and they’re mostly inside! And, you can usually meet them in costumes that you won’t find elsewhere. During a Halloween on the High Seas cruise, you can meet Clarabelle, Minnie, and Daisy as the Sanderson Sisters, but you can also see Witch Minnie, Super Hero Donald, Mummy Goofy, and many more. The character’s costumes and outfits change regularly, so be sure to grab a photo with them when you see them dressed up!

Attend Mickey’s Halloween on the High Seas Mousequerade

Mickey’s Mouse-querade is the main event on the Halloween on the High Seas cruise and if you only do one thing on your spooky cruise, this is it! You cruise director will keep you in the loop as to which night of your cruise this takes place, but be sure to check the Disney Navigator section of the Disney Cruise App for times and details as soon as you get on board. During the Mousequerade you can join all of your favorite Disney Characters in their Halloween best for a fun dance party, trick or treating, and photo ops in the atrium.

Be sure to dress up yourself and have fun with it! We saw so many fun Disney Halloween Costumes during this party, but even just a fun Halloween Shirt will do! Of course, if you’ve completely forgotten to bring a costume, or had no hopes of fitting one in your suitcase, you can check out the Disney Cruise Ship gift shops. They sometimes do sell a few costumes onboard if you forget to pack a costume and decide you want to dress up. And if you’ve brought your Pirate Night costume for the trip, you can use that too!

Spooky Treats on a Disney Halloween Cruise

Of course you knew at one point out 5 Must Dos on a Disney Halloween Cruise was going to involve food. It doesn’t matter which Disney Cruise Ship you’re sailing, if they’re hosting a Halloween on the High Seas cruise, they will have Halloween treats! That’s right. From ghostly pastries, to Mummy Oreo Cookies, and Spider Cakes, there are plenty of treats to be found onboard. Be sure to check out all the fun Halloween-themed treats. Whether you grab something with your morning coffee from a cafe, or grab dessert at lunch from the quick service restaurant be sure to seek out the treats.

Plus, you can get a fun Halloween-themed popcorn bucket from Preludes before the show or movie to really add a little more Halloween to your trip. Or order a spooky dessert with your dinner. On the largest ships, like the Disney Fantasy, Dream, Wish and Treasure, you can even find a sweet shop onboard, sure to be stocked with Halloween goodies. While the snacks at the specialty shops onboard do cost extra, they are still worth the look. We loved searching the ship for all the wicked good treats. Be sure to leave some room for sweet things during your trip.

Activities on a Disney Halloween Cruise

While a Disney Halloween Cruise comes with special events, and non stop Halloween Movies playing, you can also find Halloween activities on a Disney Cruise during your trip. However, we aren’t going to lie. We wish there were actually more Halloween-themed activities during the Halloween on the High Seas cruise. But hey we will take whatever we can get! Be on the lookout for Halloween Theme Crafts, Trivia, Games, and all things Disney Villains.

Check your daily navigator or Disney Cruise line app for activities throughout the ship to see what’s being offered! Or as a cast member. One of our favorites was learning how to make this Spider Cake at the Anyone Can Cook demo. There are also dance parties for families, and plenty of activities inside the Disney Cruise Kids Clubs to help get everyone into a spooky mood.
