Fall is just around the corner. Which means all things cozy, and all things pumpkin! As you may know, we are big fans of The Haunted Mansion at Disney Parks, and Haunted Mansion, the movie… and well, Haunted Mansion everything! So of course, we had to create a coffee drink to match it! Combining all things luscious with pumpkin and chocolate, and cream, here is our Haunted Mansion inspired Pumpkin Mocha Latte Recipe, for all you Disney Coffee fans out there.
Haunted Mansion Pumpkin Mocha
We love the combination of Pumpkin and chocolate. If you’ve never tried, we highly recommend it! And since The Haunted Mansion is just a little bit spooky, we thought mocha was the perfect addition to a traditional pumpkin latte. Whether you’re having a fall themed brunch or want to add this to a Haunted Mansion movie night, we hope you love this variation on a fall classic.
Making a pumpkin mocha at home is actually really easy! We love making lattes at home. Not only will it save you money, but we love the whole espresso making experience. Plus, you can choose the ingredients that go into your latte and make it a little healthier if you choose!
Equipment Needed
We use a Moka Pot for our espresso, but you can use a Nespresso, or obviously an actual espresso machine. Or if you don’t have any of those things, you can buy an espresso blend and make it a little stronger than you usually would. This will most definitely give you a less bold flavor, but it will do the trick if needed.
You’ll also want to have a frother of some kind. We like this one because it’s automatic and it really can whip up a nice cold foam. But a manual frother works and if all else fails, you can always even use something like a small blender or even a smaller food processor if that’s what you have! And if you don’t have anything that measures ounces for your sauces and syrups, just eyeball it. All of these measurements can be adjusted to taste anyway, so the measurements are really more of a guideline than anything else really.
Ingredients
To make things easier, we usually just buy sauces for drinks we know we are going to make a lot. Like Pumpkin lattes for example. You can always make your own of course. We have a pumpkin sauce recipe here that we think is pretty good. Otherwise, here are the things we recommend for this latte:
- 2 shots Espresso
- 8-10 oz milk of choice
- 1 oz Dark Chocolate or Mocha Sauce
- 2 oz Pumpkin Sauce
- 1/4 c. heavy cream (more if you want more foam)
- 1 Milano Cookie
- Oreo Crumbs
- 1 Meringue Ghost (we have the recipe in this post)
If you’re nondairy, we recommend using this oat creamer for the foam on top. Or even a non-dairy whipped cream. The foam/cream on top needs to have enough structure to hold the meringue ghost as well as the cookie, so if you’re not using heavy cream just be sure to use something that will be strong enough for those items!
Instructions
You’ll start by adding your sauces. Pour your espresso over that. Then pour your frothed or steamed milk. Froth together your heavy cream (or nondairy creamer) and pumpkin sauce to top it off. Sprinkle some Oreo cookie crumbles. Add a meringue ghost and a Milano Cookie on top. We used a food coloring marker to write the words RIP, so you can do this or not. It’s up to you!
- Add 1 oz of each mocha and pumpkin sauces to glass
- Pour 2 shots of espresso over sauces and stir until well mixed
- Steam 8-10 ounces of milk; pour over espresso
- Froth together heavy cream and 1 oz pumpkin sauce until frothy and nearly doubled in size
- Sprinkle Oreo cookie crumbs on top of foam
- Add Milano Cookie and Meringue Ghost on top
- Enjoy!
