New Disney Movies 2026-2031 Release Schedule

We’ve been tracking the New Disney Movies that are coming out both in theaters and on Disney+, and thought it was about time to share the Disney Release Schedule. While this list is ambitious with a number of films slated from now to 2031, Disney promises New Disney Films that include an array of characters. From Marvel Movies to Disney Animated Movies to Disney Live Action Remakes, there are plenty of things on this list. To get a full picture of storylines that cross both film and television, check out all the NEW Shows on Disney+ this month for all the latest releases.

With loads of new Disney films planned for the next 10 years, we’re here to share release dates, synopsis, cast lists and info. Here’s the deep dive, but if you want to see the spark notes, check out what was JUST RELEASED at the D23 EXPO Entertainment Showcase. As news on each upcoming Disney movie is shared, we’ll be sure to add it to this post! For now, check out all the releases announced so far. This includes new movies coming to Disney Plus, but mainly Disney, Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar films set to arrive in theaters between now and 2031.

New Disney Movies Live Action

New Disney Live-Action movies showing only in theaters, and later on Disney Plus, complete with new characters and voices from the original cast. These are works in progress, many confirmed but with very little updates as Disney began to pull back on live action plans after Snow White. Check out the schedule for details.

Perhaps some of the most affected films by the strikes, and also public sentiment are the New Marvel Movies by Disney. You’ll note some of these Marvel films have been removed from the schedule, while others have suffered massive delays.

New Disney Star Wars Movies

Still building the Star Wars franchise both on Disney Plus and on the big screen, there are several Star Wars projects in the works, but only a couple have release dates.

New Disney Avatar Movies

With three more Avatar films to go, James Cameron has committed to New Zealand with citizenship as he completes these films. With the third installment featuring fire, we can guess the 5-film franchise ties together the classical elements.

Frozen 3 | November 24, 2027

Announced alongside other sequels, Frozen 3 is on the books for Disney Studios. With no clue what this one will be about, we can be sure that Olaf and Elsa are at the center of the story, alongside Anna and Kristoff. With the latter previously ruling Arendelle and Elsa finding the source of her powers ( and her mother) in the unknown, an unforeseen conflict will surely further this story in part III. Frozen 3’s storyline is set to be TWO FILMS… and will release subsequently.

Peter Rabbit director, Will Gluck, and Keith Bunin take on the scriptwriting for a live-action remake of Aristocats, following the same concept, look and feel as Disney Plus’ Lady and the Tramp. Director Questlove is also set to produce and oversee music.

While a Cruella 2 film may be in the works, and as a Disney Plus+ release little is  known at the moment, except that Emma Stone is still slated to play the lead.

With the Glover brothers at the helm of the Lando Calrissian story, we can expect this film, maybe, in 2028. Promised to be a full fledged movie once it manifests, we’re expecting this one to take one of the spots slated for the “untitled Star Wars” films.

Pirates of the Caribbean 6 | TBD

The on again, off again Pirates of the Caribbean 6 drama has been going on since Depp left the franchise. And then of course Margot Robbie, was in line for the titular role of Red…but that also seems a distant memory now. With multiple scripts written for this one, there doesn’t seem much chance that Depp, Knightly, or Bloom will return.

Another Disney Live Action film that has been on the table for some time, this  film has seen a slew of cast suggestions offered up by fans. As a Disney Movie fan, you can always count on new stories surrounding your favorite Disney characters, Star Wars rebels and Marvel superheroes. As such, there is no shortage of Disney Movies in development! With a variety of Disney Animation, Disney Live Action and Disney Pixar releases in the lineup, there is a wide array of genres, and storytelling here.
