Plant-Based Dining at Walt Disney World has arrived. And you don’t have to be vegetarian or vegan to love these new options. If you’re new to the plant-based dining craze, no worries! We’ll cover everything you need to know about plant-based dining options and where to find them at Walt Disney World.
What is Plant-Based Dining at Walt Disney World?
If you’re considering moving towards a more meatless lifestyle or just want to broaden your Disney foodie horizons, know that most plants are good for you! So you get awesome food, that tastes amazing AND is good for you! Put simply, plant-based means using plant protein instead of meat protein. These kinds of foods are made with things like grains, nuts, vegetables, and fruit.
We recently found some of the best plant-based dining at Walt Disney World as part of EPCOT’s most recent festivals. But rest assured, most restaurants on Disney World property are now offering plant-based dining options too.
Are Plant-Based Dining Options Gluten-Free?
Not necessarily! Something worth noting here is that plant-based dining doesn’t necessarily mean gluten-free. And while many restaurants on Disney property can accommodate gluten-free needs, you can check out the Walt Disney World Gluten Free Menus for a comprehensive list. A vegetable protein that is gluten-free is Pea Protein. But, we haven’t seen it used too often in the plant-based dining at Walt Disney World so far. Most other plant proteins have some form of grain, which often means gluten. So, if you’re hesitant, just ask. We’ve also written up a Food and Wine Festival Gluten-Free Foods Post to help you get an idea of more foodie alternatives.
Does Plant-Based mean Vegetarian and Vegan?
Yes. Both. There is no animal meat, dairy, eggs, or honey in plant-based foods. So, nothing that comes from an animal.
Where Can I Find Plant-Based Dining at Walt Disney World?
Whether you’re looking at an EPCOT festival passport or a dining menu in one of Disney Parks restaurants, the Plant-Based Dining Icon is the same. Look for the little plant icon next to anything on the menu. Here’s the round-up of everywhere on the property so far that offers plant-based dining options.
