A Disney Star Wars May 4th Celebration at the Parks and Home

If you’re a Star Wars fan you know all about May the 4th. Giving you a justified ( not that you need one) reason to spend ALL DAY celebrating favorite Star Wars stories.  And luckily, you can celebrate at home or in the Disney Parks. And if you’re sailing on the Disney Wish, you can even head to Hyperspace Lounge! So whether you’re a fan of the dark side, fighting for the rebel forces, or just reveling in the latest Clone Wars, or final season of the Bad Batch, here are things you can do to celebrate for the Disney Star Wars May 4th Celebration.

Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Disney Vacation

If you’re heading to Walt Disney World or Disneyland, you can look forward to a day trip on the planet Batuu! Complete with amazing rides, food, games, and shows! If you’re visiting the parks on May the 4th, be sure to head to Galaxy’s Edge for the royal treatment on Star Wars Day. Season of the Force 2024 at Disneyland

In addition to ALL the snacks at Disneyland across the resort and Downtown Disney for  Season of the Force, featuring the Hyperspace Mountain Overlay, special fireworks show and even Disneyland After Dark: Star Wars Nite, you can count on even more snacks in the parks for the month of May. Star Wars May the 4th at Home

Ok, get ready to celebrate this day with cute Star Wars styles, a list of Star Wars films to watch, and new Star Wars shows on Disney Plus. You can even try out the Star Wars Wookie Cookie Copycat Recipe from Disney Parks! Let’s dive in. 

Star Wars Wookie Cookie Recipe

This Disney Copycat recipe hails from Hollywood Studios and is typically a giant oatmeal cookie whoopie pie the size of your hand. Since, we’d rather snack on these fun cookies, instead of substitute our next meal, we’ve made them smaller, but just as yummy!

Oatmeal Cookie Recipe

If you’re looking for a really good, soft oatmeal cookie recipe this is it. This cookie will be the sandwich to your cream, so you’ll need two per person. This recipe makes 12 cookies. 

Preheat on 375F

• 1 cup unsalted butter softened (226g)
• 1 cup light brown sugar¹ tightly packed (200g)
• ½ cup dark brown sugar (100g)
• 2 large eggs room temperature preferred
• 1 ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 ¾ cup all-purpose flour (215g)
• 2 teaspoons cornstarch (cornflour in UK)
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• ¾ teaspoon salt
• ¾ teaspoon ground cinnamon
• 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats (285g)
• 1 ½ cups chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or raisins optional!

1. Cream together butter and sugars. Add vanilla and eggs and stir well.
2. In a separate bowl, whisk together your dry ingredients (except for the oats).
3. Gradually stir dry ingredients into wet until completely combined. Stir in the oats. If you’re looking for a smoother cookie, you can grind the oats in a food processor at this step. And then any other add-ins at this point.
4. Cover the dough and chill for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator (the cookie dough may be made up to 5 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator).
5. Drop cookies by rounded 2-3 Tablespoon onto a parchment paper-lined baking sheet and bake at 375F until edges are just beginning to turn golden brown.

Let completely cool before adding whoopie pie filling. 

Vanilla Buttercream Whoopie Pie Filling

If you’re looking for a fluffy creamy filling, then this vanilla buttercream will do the trick. A vegan substitute you can use is whipped coconut cream. For either filling, you must make sure the cookies are completely cooled before filling them, or it will melt! 

• 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
• 3 to 4 cups confectioners’ sugar
• 1/4 cup milk
• 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Chocolate Belt Piece

To make the Wookie’s belt piece, you will need chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, and cake decorating bags and tips. 

• 1/4 c. Chocolate Chips- melted
• 1/8 c. White Chocolate Chips- melted
• Wax paper, placed on a baking sheet. 
• 2 decorating bags and tips

While the chocolate is still melted, pour it into a decorating bag, fitted with a cake decorating tip. You will need one for the chocolate, and one for the white chocolate. On the wax paper make a small long rectangle with the chocolate. Once midway set, pipe small white dashes with the white chocolate onto the chocolate piece. To set completely, put the baking sheet into the freezer, while you fill the cookies. 

To assemble, place a cookie on the bottom, fill it with buttercream, top it with another cookie, and “glue” the chocolate piece onto the top with the remaining melted chocolate.
