Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge Details
Batuu in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World are almost exactly the same in both parks. With the exception of slightly lighter building colors to combat Florida sun and optional alcohol at Walt Disney World with Rum in the blue milk and Tequila in the green milk. If you find you need more than these 5 tips, or plan on doing multiple days, we’ve written a guide to Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge to help.
Galaxy’s Edge Stuff You Can Skip?
Ok, so a quick rundown of stuff we think you can skip? Buying the Droid at the Droid Depot. Building the 200 Dollar Lightsaber. Note, this isn’t the equivalent of buying your wand at Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Because, you see, there the wand picks you! Here you just assemble the thing on your own. And then have to lug it around all day. Through all those security lines! We’re big on saving money when we can, and still finding ways to have a great experience. In addition to the things on this list, we suggest taking time to browse the shops, grab the snacks, and really take in the land details! If you’re a Star Wars fan you’ll find a lot to love.
Drink the Blue and Green Milk in Galaxy’s Edge
While the blue and green milk may have gotten wildly mixed reviews, it’s still a Must Try! While this likely won’t become a staple in your Disney snack routine, we highly recommend tasting one(or both!) of these just to get a taste of what the rage is all about. We prefer the blue milk, however found that mixing them made them both more tolerable. And if plant based milk isn’t your thing check out the Cold Brew Black Caf instead. This cocoa puff coffee is a must try, and so good we even made a copycat recipe for Cold Brew Black Caf, give it a try.
Try Different Roles on Millennium Falcon Smuggler’s Run
The newest ride at Galaxy’s Edge at Disney is a ride designed for 6, with 2 assigned to each role. This fully interactive ride includes 2 pilots, 2 gunners and 2 engineers. We were lucky enough to try this ride in all three roles and can confidently say that not only does your role make a difference in your experience, but so does your team. We recommend trying at least 2 different roles if you’re able so you can really enjoy what the Imagineers created for you in this ride. While this does make the list, it could be a one and done experience for you. There are a lot of variables to this ride experience that can make or break the fun. But again, you should do this at least once.
Grab a Drink at Oga’s Cantina
Oga’s Cantina is an experience that you’ll either love or hate. It’s loud, it’s crowded and it looks like a scene right out of a Star Wars movie. While it’s really mostly a bar, Oga’s does also offer non-alcoholic drinks and concoctions. they also serve a couple snacks and breakfast items. It feels like a huge party, with it’s very own robotic DJ and bartenders and waitstaff that occasionally break out into song. Although we do list Oga’s as a must do, it’s also important to know that you’ll likely need reservations. And that most of the cantina is standing room only. Or that you will be seated with strangers. PLUS, it can be a bit pricey. This is one place that you are paying a bit more for the experience than the actual drinks, but it’s a fun experience nonetheless. And again, a must-do at least once.
Visit the Droid Depot
Even if you can’t stomach the cost of building your very own droid, you are allowed to go watch the process. Which is fun in itself! The droid parts come down on a conveyor belt where you are able to select which pieces you want for your droid. Once you have selected the parts you want, you can then assemble your droid and watch him come to life! While the Visit is a MUST DO the actual purchase may be something you can just skip. Mainly because while your little droid will interact with Galaxy’s Edge it won’t come alive elsewhere and may dim the glory of the purchase.
Ride Rise of the Resistance
The best ride in Galaxy’s edge is Rise of the Resistance. Available by stand by line, which can be hours, as well as by purchasing an individual Lightning Lane Pass, this ride offers a unique multi-faceted experience with a pre-show, cast members in full character, and a surprising ride experience. Worth it? ABSOLUTELY! This trackless dark ride is larger than life and so so cool! Definitely worth planning for.
Eat a Ronto Wrap
It doesn’t matter whether you’re grabbing the breakfast version or the regular Ronto wrap, nothing is better than a bunch of stuff on in fluffy pita bread. While the breakfast version comes with eggs, the lunch/ dinner version comes with sausage. Both are excellent as a snack or a quick-serve lunch and have a special spot on our Best Snacks at Hollywood Studios List.
