Disney Summer | Vacations, Cruises, Decor, Recipes

Summer vacation offers up free time, late evenings, and the opportunity for vacations! So whether you’re headed to Castaway Cay on a Disney Cruise, a Disney Park, or just hanging out with a s’more latte at your home bonfire, here are some of our favorite ways to add more magic to the Summer season running from June- July.

Walt Disney World in the Summer

The summer months at Walt Disney World can sometimes be rough! With the crowds, prices, and weather, it’s not the best time to visit Walt Disney World. In truth, we highly recommend not visiting Walt Disney World in Summer. But, we totally get that sometimes it’s your only option. So, we are here to share some things to help get you through it.

Flower and Garden Festival

The EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival runs from March into early July, so there is plenty of time to visit for a look at new topiaries and fresh foods. While the parks are crowded this time of year, planning your festival days so that you can be done by 4 pm is best. While there are many vacationers, EPCOT is the hangout after work for many locals and it gets extra busy. Be sure to peruse our posts on the Flower and Garden Festival and check out our must-read posts below.

Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival

The EPCOT Food and Wine Festival runs from mid-July to late November and features not only amazing foods but also favorite fall foods too!

H20 Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon

This special evening event at Disney’s Water Park, Typhoon Lagoon, requires a special ticket and typically runs through the summer months on select nights. Giving a neon glow to Typhoon Lagoon, you can count on specialty snacks, live music, and a party atmosphere as you ride all the rides you want. Check out everything you need to know about H20 Glow Nights.

Disney Summer Snacks

During the summer snacks, there aren’t too many specialty snacks, with the lack of holidays. As such we like to fall back on the Best Snacks at Walt Disney World to help make vacation time special.

Disneyland Main Street USA

Summer at Disneyland

If you’re heading to Disneyland this summer, be sure to check out the Disneyland Calendar for all the events that are happening during your vacation. Summers at Disneyland include Black Music Month celebrations with live music across the park and in Downtown Disney, and Disneyland After Dark Events.

Castaway Cay Disney Cruise

A Disney Cruise in Summer

Sailing the high seas during the summer months means Sailing on a Disney Cruise during Hurricane Season, which lasts from June through November. As such certain cruises are less impacted than others. Disney cruises to the northern areas, like Alaska, Northern Europe, and Canada are typically calmer and give you respite from the summer heat. Be sure to check out our Disney Cruise page for all our Disney cruise info so you can make the best choices for your summer Disney Cruise.

Disney POG popsicles

A Disney Home for Summer

Celebrating a Disney Summer at Home is super easy. A few easy recipes, some decor ideas, or a fun Disney Book, and you’re golden. As such we recommend you keep your summer plans simple and fun. So, you have plenty of time to lounge about in the sun.

Disney Summer Holidays

  • Independence Day: A fairly low-key holiday for many, this one is all about family. So, if you’re getting together for a summer cookout, check out some fun Disney Recipes to add to the mix.

Disney Summer Recipes

When it comes to recipes in the summertime, we find that easy work best. Something cold, and refreshing usually hits the spot. So we’ve pulled out some POG and Dole Whip options, but you can browse our entire Disney Recipes section for even more ideas.

runDisney summer

runDisney Virtual Marathon

Each year runDisney offers a virtual marathon for those who can’t make it to the parks. This self-paced challenge can take place throughout the summer, or all at once. You simply track your progress and meet your goal. Participants still get medals for whichever races they run and it’s a great way to add a little Disney to your summer months. Check out all the details about the runDisney Virtual Marathon.

Disney Fall Home Decor

While there are many ways to add more Disney Summer Decor to your home, we like to keep it simple. As one of the few times of the year, when it’s okay to not have decorations up, we prefer little things that are pretty and functional. Consider flowers or glassware sets for the bar cart. Things that can add some cheer.

Disney Summer Shirts and shopDisney

If you’re traveling to the parks, then be sure to check out our Disney attractions and parks shirts for summer at Polka Dot Pixie Shop plus everything from shopDisney. You’re sure to find something to add to your closet for the season.
